About Stuart Rowan View Stuart's personal references >>> Born February 27, 1957. I grew up in Florida attending Florida Public schools from K-12th grade. In 1975, I attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. I was an active leader, serving as a student government representative and class president. I was selected "Who's Who" and hosted a Radio show on WNAZ-FM in Nashville, TN. I learned the value of hard work and budgeting, by assisting in the financing of my education. As a college student, I worked as an academic recruiter for Trevecca. I also earned my Private Pilot's License. Upon graduation In 1979, I worked for Mercer University, in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. In 1983, Teresa Stricklin and I were married. We moved to Palm Bay, where I was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in 1986. Teresa (Teri) graduated from Auburn University, earning her degree in Special Education. She taught in the Opelika, Alabama School district, while she earned her Masters in Education. In 1985, I was assigned, by my denomination, to start a church in Palm Bay. My entrepreneurial spirit, and strong people skills, were a good mix for this challenge. Starting in rented facilities, the church grew. We eventually purchased land and built a building. I have been recognized by my denomination with numerous awards and citations for leadership. Building an organization, from the ground up, has helped me understand the importance of team work, fiscal responsibility and organization. Today, the Christian Development Center is involved in serving the community through a variety of ministries and outreaches. Leadership and service are more than just a slogan, they are a way of life.
While serving in the community, I have also been busy owning and operating several small businesses including: real estate investment, marine interests, and the manufacturer and marketing of specialized athletic equipment. Teresa (Teri) continues her teaching career, having invested over 23 years in Brevard County Schools. Teri taught at Melbourne High School for 4 years, and has spent the last 19 years as a Staffing Specialists in the Area I Exceptional Education Department. Teri and I have 2 children. Both are products of the Brevard County Schools from K-12. Our daughter is a senior in high school, and has been a part of the Nationally-acclaimed Business Academy for 2 years, and has served as an officer. This program is serving as a model, and prototype, for the kinds of programs Brevard Secondary Schools will be pursuing, under the Secondary Schools of National Prominence Initiative. Soccer, Track, and student government keep her calendar full. Our Son, Taylor, is a 2005 graduate of Brevard County Schools. Taylor attends Western Illinois University, where he plays football and has earned All-American honors. My parents live in Melbourne, and are active in church, scouting, and the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society. They continue modeling what they have always taught; Life is best spent by investing in others. When time permits, I enjoy golf, scuba diving, fishing, boating, water sports and reading. |
